Poll: Most Most Americans Are Unhappy With Government

Now there’s a temptation to add a new category to blogs everywhere: “We knew that already!”

It’s another Washington Post-ABC News Poll. And no surprise that it shows the highest disapproval of Washington since 1996.

“Two-thirds of Americans are ‘dissatisfied’ or downright ‘angry’ about the way the federal government is working, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll. On average, the public estimates that 53 cents of every tax dollar they send to Washington is ‘wasted’.”*

Yet, our “public servants” march right on down the same debt-strewn road. Strewing more as they go. That’s the amazing thing. And it’s hard to believe that even those who call themselves liberals can really believe that’s the way to run a nation. But when it’s your own family, it’s hard to criticize. Especially when you’re among the gatherers of the spoils.

But aren’t the people of the corporations who received so-called government money happy? The poll doesn’t address that, but it’s kind of another “we knew that.” Many of them didn’t want our money, none liked the carping of congress over the way they run their businesses.

But since TARP was another convenient trough for taking home the bacon, a lot of politicians love it. Obviously a majority, since the thing passed.

But majorities in government don’t long reflect the majority of the people out here who work to support it. With power, you can ignore those who put you there.

At least for a while.
